114 | ![]() | It's a Long Way to Dakota From Page 36a in Hildred's album The person, who is not positively identified, is probably Hildred. This picture, although it's not very good as far as quality, is interesting from historical and family history perspectives. First, it shows the miserable condition of the roads in those days. The picture was apparently taken on what is now U.S. Highway 61 which has been a four-lane road between Winona and Dakota since about 1958. Secondly, it shows that there was a strong attraction from the Dakota area for Hildred which is, no doubt due to her high school romance with Rolland Harvey Wilson, her classmate whom she eventually married.
115 | ![]() | Two Girls Frolicking in Yard From Page 36a in Hildred's album. Not sure who the two girls are, but the picture was taken at the Thurow residence on Harriet Street in Winona. The picture would, therefore, have been taken some time after 1913.
