J. Ray McNally

J. Ray McNally, 88, of Lake Winona Manor and formerly of Ridgeway, Minn., died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Lake Winona Manor. Ray was born in Winona on March 9, 1919, to Charles E. and Cora (Olson) McNally.
Ray farmed all his life, beginning at the age of 16 when he took over his grandfather's farm after his grandfather died. He loved farming and the land he worked, never retiring. He also did plowing and grading for Pleasant Hill Township.
Ray was united in marriage to Margaret C. Nagle on April 6, 1940, at the parsonage of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona. Margaret died Aug. 13, 2007. At the time of her death they had celebrated 67 years of marriage.
He attended Cedar Valley Lutheran Church; served as secretary for Bush Cemetery for over 30 years; is a past board member of the Ridgeway Creamery; served many years as a supervisor for the Pleasant Hill Township Board and is a past board member of the Bush Country School.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Ray also enjoyed fishing and bowling.
Ray is survived by his children, Gerald (Beverly) McNally, Winona; Judy (Michael) Leahy, Minocqua, Wis.; James L. (Sheila) McNally, on the home farm, rural Winona; Charles F. (Paula) McNally, rural Winona; Dean McNally and friend, Sue, Minnesota City, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Jerry Jr., Shannon, Kim, Jamie, Charlie, Traci, Brian, Brad and Leah; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, grandson Jeffery and brothers, Clyde, Robert and Bruce.
Funeral services for Ray will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home. Chaplain Kathy Redig of Winona Area Hospice will officiate. Interment will be at Bush Cemetery, Ridgeway, Minn.
Friends may call today, Jan. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
Casket bearers will be Ray's grandchildren.
