  Was in Oliver Cromwell's army. First record in America is in 25 Jul 1649 will of Edward Bullock of Dorchester in which a debt is acknowledged "due to Sampson Mason for wife's shoes." 1651, bought house & land in Dorchester from William Betts. 9 Dec 1657 Records of Rehoboth "voted that Sampson Mason should have free liberty to sojurn amonst us". 1667, one of the founders of Swansea. One of the proprietors of the "North Purchase". One of the larger contributors to King Philip's War.
