- Allan D. Allar, 74, of Beardstown, Ill., died on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.
He was born on April 6, 1936, in Hayward to Ralph and Irene (Trepania) Allar.
He married Kathleen A. Daily on December 20, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nev. Allan graduated from Spooner High School in 1953. He was a self-made natural musician, playing piano, bass, trombone, and trumpet. He attended the Navy School of Music in Washington, D.C. from 1953 to 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 until 1957 and was a member of the Navy Band, playing as a musician in Europe and Virginia Beach, Va.
From 1962 until 1980 he painted 46 works of art using mostly oil paints. In 1991 he and his wife moved to Beardstrown where he was a self-employed engineering consultant. He was the leader of the band "Jazz Magic" that played at various civic functions. He was also a member of Beardstrown Community Theater and enjoyed playing golf in the Senior Golf League.
Surviving are his wife, Kathleen, of Beardstown; his stepson, Brian Leslie, of Portland, Ore.; his nephew, Hayes B. Becker of Macomb, Ill.; his brother, Duane (Shirley) Allar of Eatonville, Wash.; two sisters, Loretta Peterson of Springbrook and Betty Allar of Stevens Point; sister-in-law, Elaine Allar of Waupaca; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ralph Jr. [1]
