- Kathleen Cotter peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. She was born in Providence, RI on April 20,1953 to Richard F. Cotter Jr. and Margaret "Shelia" Curran Cotter. She grew up in Warwick and East Providence, RI. Kathleen attended East Providence High School and graduated from Brown University in 1975. She lived most of her adult life in New York.
Kathleen had a lifelong love affair with books which led to a fulfilling career as a librarian in the New York Public Library system.
Kathleen had many passions and interests including: books, the theater, music, travel and baseball. She was an avid Red Sox and Mets fan.
Kathleen had a strong and abiding love for her family, especially for her nephew Daniel and niece Emily Cotter. She shared many of her gifts with her siblings and Creamer cousins and we are all so grateful for the parts of her that we will always carry in our hearts.
Kathleen is survived by her siblings: Denise O'Neil and her husband Jay Taranto, her brother Michael Cotter and his fiancee Cely O'Brien, and her brother Paul Cotter.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Barrett and Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit on Saturday from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. (Face masks are suggested.)
Her loved ones invite you to wear her favorite color purple and to feel free to bring a memory to share at her memorial service.
