James A. Caswell of Medford, formerly of Owatonna, died May 13, 2013 at his home in Medford.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Brick – Meger Funeral Home (1603 – Austin Road, Owatonna) and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Moland Lutheran Church, Merton Township, in rural Steele County Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna with military Honors provided by Steele County Funeral Unit. Funeral arrangements completed with the Brick – Meger Funeral Home.
James was born May 16, 1933 in Faribault, MN the son of Samuel and Elvira (Knoepke) Caswell . He attended school in Owatonna. Jim was drafted into the United States Army serving for two years in Korea. He was united in marriage to Evonne Chadwick on Dec. 7, 1956 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Owatonna. Jim worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) as a Foreman in Austin, Red Wing and Owatonna. He retired from MNDOT in 1990 after 35 years of service. In retirement the couple lived in Federal Dam near Leech Lake where he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting. Jim enjoyed watching Vikings games, the Minnesota Twins, playing bingo, and feeding the birds in his back yard. He was a life member of the Owatonna V.F.W. He is survived by his children James Caswell of Owatonna, Perry (Sue) Caswell of Buffalo, MN Robert (Theresa) Caswell of Owatonna and John Caswell of Peoria, IL. Eight Grandchildren and nine Great- Grandchildren. His companion Deloris Skalicky of Medford, MN , his sister Deloris "Dode" Meixner of Pine River, MN. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Evonne in 2009, three brothers and one sister. Memorials can be directed to the donor's choice
