Diane (Pylkas) Smith wrote in her 2003 email to Larry Wilson: "This is my Grandmother's first communion. My mother was not catholic that I know of. Grandmother Mary left the church when she married LeRoy. The dress was designed by Grandmother Mary's mother Augustus Warner Staack."
