    • John served as a Sergeant and Radio Operator on B-17G "The Wild Hare" (#42-31515), 401st Bomber Squadron, 91st Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

      He resided in Orleans County, Vermont prior to the war.

      He enlisted in the Army on January 15, 1942 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted as being employed as a mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.

      John was «b»"Killed In Action"«/b» when his B-17 was attacked by German Aircraft and crashed near Cloppenburg, Germany during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
