{"id":781,"date":"2010-10-11T14:33:02","date_gmt":"2010-10-11T19:33:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wilsonld.com\/weblog\/?p=781"},"modified":"2015-05-31T20:29:21","modified_gmt":"2015-06-01T02:29:21","slug":"transfer-of-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilsonld.com\/weblog\/?p=781","title":{"rendered":"Transfer of Power"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Vince Flynn, 1999, Pocket Books, a Division of Simon &amp; Schuster, Inc.<\/p>\n<p>This is a typical political thriller, but it has a few flaws.\u00c2\u00a0 First of all, the constant references to model names and numbers of various pieces of technical military paraphernalia, although it might please a reader who is member of a vigilante group or militia, drives me nuts.\u00c2\u00a0 Secondly, the author spent a huge number of pages building up to the finale which caused the book to drag a bit (the finale, by the way, was as expected).\u00c2\u00a0 Finally, while I have to give credit to the author for predicting a catastrophic act of terrorism on American soil pre-911, he fell into the same trap that George Bush did when he assumed that Saddam Hussein would be behind it all.\u00c2\u00a0 Oops!\u00c2\u00a0 (I guess I wouldn&#8217;t have had the same criticism on that last item if I had read the book ten years ago.)<\/p>\n<p>Not bad, but could have been better.<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"2 1\/2 stars\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wilsonld.com\/weblog\/wp-includes\/images\/stars-2-5.gif\" alt=\"2 1\/2 stars\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Vince Flynn, 1999, Pocket Books, a Division of Simon &amp; Schuster, Inc.
