It is a collection of short stories that James Joyce wrote in 1911 and each story is narrated by a different individual. Frank McCourt narrated the first story.

Joyce captures the quirks of the characters in each of the stories that might be particular to the Irish people. While the stories were interesting, Joyce did not provide an ending to any of them but left them hanging at the end. The reader then must imagine what happened next.

I’m not a fan of short stories and these left me unsatisfied. I’m not sure if I would have appreciated the stories more if I had read them instead of listening. Now I have been exposed to Joyce’s writing which is something I have been intending to do. I’m not sure that I will explore his other works, however.

W

by James Joyce, book originally published in 1911, Audiobook released in 2011, narrated by several persons, Tantor Audio We listened to this audiobook on our trip from Florida to Rhode Island this year.
