I gained a deeper appreciation of the character and genius of Leonardo.  I was not, for some reason, blown away by the book, however.  I did discover, after listening to over twelve hours of the audiobook, that I had the abridged version from the Libby app from our local library, and the unabridged version is another five hours long.  I thought it was odd when listening to it, that sometimes an explanation would abruptly end and move on to the next topic. i suspect this was due to the editing of the original version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is an accompanying pdf file with all of the illustrations that can be downloaded, but because I usually listen to books while working out, walking, or doing household chores, I didn&#8217;t bother with it until close to the very end of the book.  The narrator refers to these illustrations frequently.  Once I had downloaded the file and opened it, I found it to be very helpful and enlightening.  I would recommend listening to this audiobook while looking at the pdf file, but that&#8217; not how I usually listen to books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The narrator is very good and understandable, although he had a strange pronunciation in a few instances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book is definitely worthwhile, but maybe better in the unabridged version and definitely with the pdf while listening.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Walter Isaacson, 2017, Audiobook narrated by Alfred Molina, Simon &amp; Schuster Audio My Review This book is well-researched and provides much information about the life and works of Leonardo.
