I didn’t find that to be the case. The book is about a high-roller movie producer who is accused of murdering his wife and lover. When the lawyer who is defending him is killed, Haller is called in as his replacement.

The book, like the first one, has a lot of detail and information about how the justice system works. There are a quite a few characters who are not totally on the up-and-up. Haller, the Lincoln Lawyer, is also flawed, but not so much that you can’t root for him to succeed. He makes some mistakes and overlooks some obvious clues, but manages to recover just enough to bring his cases to a favorable outcome.

This book has a couple of twists at the end that I must admit I wasn’t expecting. Sometimes I can sense who the real perpetrator is, but in this novel I was completely surprised.

Peter Giles does a good job of narrating. He changes his voice just enough to differentiate one character from another.

The Lincoln Lawyer Series, Book 2, by Michael Connelly, 2008, Audiobook narrated by Peter Giles, Hachette Audio Usually the second book in a series isn’t quite as good as the first one.
