I chose this book for my Kindle as I was going on a month vacation and needed a book that would be light reading.\u00c2\u00a0 Another reason I chose it was that Ross Macdonald (aka, Kenneth Millar)\u00c2\u00a0was an officer on the same\u00c2\u00a0aircraft carrier\u00c2\u00a0my father was on in WWII, the U.S.S. Shipley Bay<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Macdonald is undergoing a posthumous resurgence in popularity as a writer of mystery stories.\u00c2\u00a0 My father didn’t know him very well as he\u00c2\u00a0kept to himself in his stateroom where he apparently\u00c2\u00a0spent his time writing but I was curious to read one\u00c2\u00a0his books.<\/p>\n

The time Macdonald spent writing while floating around in the Pacific seems to have been well spent.\u00c2\u00a0 I enjoyed this book quite a bit, although the plot was a little convoluted.\u00c2\u00a0 It moved right along and I liked the main character who\u00c2\u00a0is a lawyer who gets caught up in a murder investigation.\u00c2\u00a0 It was a perfect book to read on a cruise.\u00c2\u00a0 I suspect I will read some more of his books in the future.\"3<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
