{"id":151,"date":"2008-12-14T10:59:50","date_gmt":"2008-12-14T17:59:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wilsonld.com\/weblog\/?p=151"},"modified":"2015-06-05T22:36:32","modified_gmt":"2015-06-06T04:36:32","slug":"thirteen-moons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wilsonld.com\/weblog\/?p=151","title":{"rendered":"Thirteen Moons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Charles Frazier, Read by Will Patton, 2006.<\/p>\n<p>This story is about the life of an individual who moved west to North Carolina as a youth in the early part of the nineteenth century and the subsequent events in his life, particularly as they relate to the Cherokee Nation.\u00c2\u00a0 While the historical aspects that provide the backdrop of the book are interesting, the pace of the book moves about as fast as the aging process of the main character.\u00c2\u00a0 Compounding the problem of pace is the slow Southern drawl used by the reader, Will Patton.\u00c2\u00a0 While his tone and accent are appropriate for this particular book, the style of the reading and the writing together make for a long, long experience getting through it.<\/p>\n<p>Charles Frazier would do well to employ some more action-oriented writing techniques, such as those of Ken Follett,\u00c2\u00a0 to generate some more pace and, hopefully, an increased level of\u00c2\u00a0 interest on the part of the reader\/listener .<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"2 1\/2 stars\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wilsonld.com\/weblog\/wp-includes\/images\/stars-2-5.gif\" alt=\"2 1\/2 stars\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Charles Frazier, Read by Will Patton, 2006.
